Send flowers to Phuket ภูเก็ต

Phuket is an island, and its beaches sit on separate bays behind hills. Where the recipient sleeps decides what the address needs to say. Here is how to get it right from abroad.

One island, several separate places

Phuket is the largest island in Thailand and a province of its own. It covers about 547 square kilometres and joins the mainland by the Sarasin Bridge in the north. For the person ordering from Europe or the US, the key fact is that Phuket is not one address area. It is a handful of towns and beach strips that happen to share a name.

The airport is in the far north, in Mai Khao in Thalang district, about 32 km from Phuket Town. The famous west coast beaches, Patong, Karon and Kata, lie on the other side of the island, and each is its own bay. Someone staying in Kata and someone in Patong may call it both "Phuket" on the phone, yet they live in different districts and different drives.

So always write the beach or town, not only the island. "Karon" narrows it down. "Phuket" alone does not.

How an address reads on the island

Thai addresses run from small to large: house number, หมู่ (moo, the village group), ซอย (soi, a side lane), ถนน (thanon, a main road), then the tambon (subdistrict), the amphoe (district) and the province with a five-digit postcode.

On Phuket three districts matter: Mueang Phuket (the town and the south and east), Kathu (the hill country behind Patong) and Thalang (the north, with the airport).

In the beach areas, many small guesthouses and villas have only a soi number and a name. A Phuket resident may say "the villa behind the temple on the Kata road." That is useful to a driver and useless on a form. Ask your recipient for the building name in English and in Thai, plus a mobile number that answers.

Phuket Town and the Old Town

The capital of the province is Phuket Town, around 862 km south of Bangkok. Its Old Town holds Sino-Portuguese shophouses on about ten heritage streets: narrow fronts, long interiors, coloured doors. Many are now cafés, galleries and small guesthouses.

A shophouse address is easy to find on a map but often hard to hand over to a stranger. The number may be shared by a ground-floor business and flats above. If you are sending flowers to a person who lives or works in the Old Town, write the business name, the road and, if you can, one landmark. For the rest of the town, a hospital delivery is a different task, and the hospitals page covers it.

Hotels and resorts on the west coast

Most flowers sent to Phuket go to a hotel or resort. The front desk is the usual handover point, and a message should always carry the guest's full name as on the booking and the room number if known. If the guest has not arrived, write the check-in date on the card and tell the florist, so flowers are not left waiting in the heat.

Many resorts stand on private roads, up steep hills, or inside gated estates. Large resort complexes may have several buildings with separate lobbies, so name the wing or villa if you have it. The guide on flowers to hotels and condos goes through the full checklist.

The Vegetarian Festival and white flowers

Each autumn Phuket holds its Vegetarian Festival, a nine-day Chinese Taoist observance that follows the lunar calendar. In 2026 it ran from 9 October (pole raising) with the nine days of observance from 10 to 18 October. Shrines across the island hold processions, there are fire-walking nights, and spirit mediums pierce their cheeks. Food stalls sell vegetarian food and people dress in white.

For a sender this has two meanings. First, streets around the Town shrines close or slow during processions, so a deliver-by-date at that time is something to confirm with the florist. Second, white is the colour of the festival, and white flowers sent at that time can read as part of the ritual rather than as a gift for a birthday. Choose another colour for a celebration, and see Thai flower etiquette for colours and meanings. The dates shift every year, so check the current year's schedule.

Getting between the bays

Between the bays the road climbs over headlands, so the map distance says little about the real ride. That matters when a card says "please deliver on the morning of the birthday." The florist knows the traffic better than you do, so ask for a window and not an exact minute. If you are sending to someone in the north near the airport, or in the south such as Rawai, treat each as a separate area again.

If you plan to send to the same person in more than one place, for instance a wedding in Kamala and a dinner in Town, order two separate deliveries with two addresses. You can also read the complete guide to ordering from abroad.

Common questions

Is it enough to write Phuket as the address?

No. Write the beach or town (Patong, Karon, Kata, Kamala, Rawai, Phuket Town) and the building name. Add a Thai-language version and a mobile number if you can get one.

Can I send flowers to a villa on a hillside?

Yes, but say it is a villa, give the estate or resort name and the soi if you have it. Gated roads may require a call to the owner on arrival, so a working phone number is essential.

Does the Vegetarian Festival affect delivery?

It can. Processions pass through Phuket Town streets, and white is the colour of the festival. Pick a bright colour for a celebration and ask the florist about road closures in that week.

Where do I find the airport in relation to the beaches?

The airport is in Mai Khao in the north of the island, about 32 km from Phuket Town. The west coast beaches are on the other side of the island.
